Compressed Natural Gas (CNG):

A CLEAN GREEN SCENE! Leave a healthy environment for the future generations.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is nothing but natural gas compressed for the use of the transport sector. Due to its low density it is compressed to a pressure of 220-250 kg/sq.cm to enhance the vehicle on-board storage capacity. The principal constituents of natural gas are Methane and Ethane. Natural gas is drawn from pipeline system for compression and distributed as CNG. Predominantly, Methane is available in the lean gas form and hence CNG contains mostly methane (normally not less than 85%)

Benefits of CNG:

It is clean and green fuel, used by the transport sector, to reduce environmental pollution. CNG reduces harmful emissions as it does not contain any Lead and Sulphur.

Being a gaseous fuel, CNG mixes in the air easily and homogenously. CNG in one of the safest fuels as it has a high auto-ignition temperature of about 540 degrees centigrade and a very narrow range of flammability (i.e.5% to 15%). In other words, if CNG concentration in the air is less than 5% or above 15%, it will not burn. Being lighter than air, in case of any leakage, natural gas goes up in the atmosphere, almost eliminating the chances of any ignition.
